Collaboration with the CSIRO on the ASKAP radio telescope project has allowed us to develop solutions to specific problems using composite materials. Besides learning a lot about radio telescope astronomy, IC has had to develop a new level of client specific documentation to meet project standards that are a template for future such projects.
An increased focus on “whole life cost” project assessment and more targeted performance parameters is leading to greater use of composites for infrastructure, technical and defence projects.
